The Tagtrug Mukpo Trust & Funding Goals
In November 2003, the Tagtrug Mukpo Trust of 2003 was established to facilitate and administer funds received from individuals for Taggie's support. Suzann Duquette, the volunteer Trustee, works closely with Taggie's guardian, Tagtrug Mukpo Support Team members, and Taggie's Shared Living Provider in identifying the timing and requirement for care activities not funded by the State. Joel McMullen is the trust's only employee. Other caregivers are hired by the Shared Living Provider, Erin Christie, and paid by the State of Vermont.
Annual Funding Goal
In 2003, President Richard Reoch and the Shambhala International Board of Directors notified all the concerned parties that funding from Shambhala International would have to cease effective June, 2004, although they did budget funds through that time to assist the transition in Taggie's care to a joint private and State-funded model.
In 2008, State support continues to cover the majority of the costs of Tagtrug's care. Family members and a group of loyal donors offer private support. New support and ongoing support is always welcome. The total goal to be raised each year from private sources is $15,500.
