The Ling Gesar “Wedding Thangka”
Archival quality, giclee prints of this thangka are for sale by Gerry Haase, who is donating 100% of the net proceeds to the Tagtrug Mukpo Trust. For general information, pricing, and how to order, please read the text below.
Painted in Golok Tibet, at the Repkong Artist Colony, according the instructions given me by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso and later blessed by H.E. Namkhai Drimed Rabjam, this thangka was offered as a wedding present to Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Khandro Tseyang Semo Ripa in Halifax. Specifically, Khenpo said the thangka should have Gesar and the thirty warrior-ministers as well as the seven "great ones," with the name of each written below each figure. As well, the figures of Guru Rinpoche and the goddess Manene appear at the top.
Having accomplished my long-held wish to have a Gesar thangka painted for the Sakyong, I now wish to make beautiful color reproductions available to the sangha as a fundraiser for the continuing support of Tagdrup Mukpo. Ray Ellis has overseen this effort, using Gi-clee on watercolor paper, and the results are stunning.
