Tagtrug Mukpo Support Team
For many years Karme Choling contributed almost $100,000 annually to support Taggie. This situation became less stable in late 2002 when, our tax counsel advised that neither Karmê Chöling nor Shambhala International could provide any further direct support for Taggie. Beyond the legal impediment, the financial burden on Karmê Chöling was larger than the budget could handle. Since that time, the financial support system for Taggie's care has been completely restructured. The Tagtrug Mukpo Support Team was formed to help with the transition and support Taggie's caregivers.
All the members are volunteers dedicated to raising the monies needed to maintain Taggie's current care plan, which has fostered his health and well-being, and to support his team of caregivers, who combine long-term dedication to Taggie with invaluable skills and experience.
The Tagtrug Mukpo Support Team Members are:
Susan Taney, MSN, ANP, is Taggie's legal guardian and was Taggie's medical case manager for three years. She is now coordinating with others to manage Taggie's care. Mrs. Taney was instrumental in getting Taggie's Medicaid waiver, has researched other care models, and stays in contact with the caregivers.
Suzann Duquette is liaison with the caregivers and trustee of The Tagtrug Mukpo Trust. This special needs trust is the vehicle through which non-tax deductible donations can be collected and dispersed in order to complement government support for Taggie.
Michael Greenleaf serves as liaison with Shambhala International and Karmê Chöling, develops budgets for the operation of the household and care, and manages Tagtrug's overall finances, including payroll.
Carol Hyman expedites communication within the committee, with Shambhala International, with family members as needed, and with the larger sangha.
Gerry Haase is helping with fundraising (see section on Gesar wedding thangka).
Bill Brauer has also agreed to help with fundraising.
Michael Taney is responsible for website design and maintenance (website content is provided by various team members).
